Finally got around to listening to the MP3 of the Radio Times from 9-16-09. It's full of great stuff.
For instance, Simon Johnson had the following to say in response to Dale from Kenneth Square:
"What we cannot handle is the top 10, 13, 15 banks. That's where we choke right now. That's what has to be fixed. And the only way to fix them is to do the Teddy Roosevelt strategy - break 'em up.
Even before Dale asked his question about the fairness of how we treat people versus corporations, Simon was railing against the "problematic" and "extremely dangerous" financial system. I was already digging what Simon was saying.
As for breaking them up, absolutely. To some degree, that's the whole problem.
Remember when we used to have regional banks? Remember when you couldn't use out of state bank machines? Remember when every town had its own little bank?
Just imagine what it would be like now if someone remade the Christmas Story.
Perhaps I should write that script, right after I write "Doulou, a story of emotional enrichment."
For reference, Doulou is a comedy.
